Military Helmet shell

Product description

About the species

The Military Helmet Snail is a durable and efficient algae eater that fits perfectly in both shrimp aquariums and pet aquariums. It is characterized by its dark, almost anthracite-colored shell with clear raised lines that give it a robust and unique appearance.

This peaceful shell works great with shrimp, peaceful fish, crabs and other shells. The Military Helmet Conch helps keep the aquarium clean by grazing algae and biofilm from glass, furnishings and stones.

The species cannot reproduce in fresh water, which means you avoid unwanted overpopulation in the aquarium.

Military Helmet Snail is also called Steel Helmet Snail or Red-lipped Helmet Snail.

FAQ about Military Helmet shell

Is Military Helmet snäcka a good algae eater?

It grazes on biofilm and many soft algae coatings on glass and décor. It does not replace normal maintenance and needs supplementary food if natural grazing is scarce.

Does Military Helmet snäcka reproduce in freshwater?

Nerite-type snails may lay eggs in freshwater, but their larvae normally require brackish or salt water. A growing population is therefore unlikely in freshwater.

Does Military Helmet snäcka need extra calcium?

Stable mineral content and dietary calcium help maintain a strong, healthy shell. Avoid very acidic, mineral-poor water.

Can Military Helmet snäcka leave the aquarium?

Yes, snails may climb above the waterline. Use a lid and check water quality if a snail repeatedly tries to leave.
