Limnophila aquatica

Product description

About the species

An extremely beautiful aquarium plant surrounded by light green and finely branched leaves from Southeast Asia. Under the right growing conditions with added CO2 and a nutrient-rich soil, this plant grows quickly and can be 25-50 cm tall and each stem up to 15 cm wide.

In good light it forms horizontal lateral shoots and becomes attractive and bushy. Most decorative when several stems are planted in a small group. In open aquariums, it sometimes sends shoots above the surface of the water and forms small blue flowers.

FAQ about Limnophila aquatica

How do I plant Limnophila aquatica?

Remove the plant from the cup, gently rinse away the nutrient gel and divide it into several small portions. Plant them with some space between each portion so they can establish.

Is Limnophila aquatica free from snails and algae?

In vitro plants are grown under sterile conditions and normally arrive free from snails, algae and pesticides, making them suitable for sensitive shrimp aquariums.

Does Limnophila aquatica need CO₂?

Requirements depend on the species. CO₂ and balanced plant nutrition often produce denser, healthier growth, but follow the light and care requirements in the product description.

What matters during the first few weeks?

Provide stable lighting and nutrition, avoid major changes and remove deteriorating leaves. Newly planted specimens often need time to adapt to submerged growth.
