Product description
Lysimachia parvifolia 'Red' develops a reddish color even under simple aquarium conditions. With stronger lighting and good access to nutrients, the leaves become increasingly intense in color, making the plant an attractive accent plant in the center or background of the aquarium.
The leaves under water are small, rounded and resemble baby spinach, which is why the plant is sometimes called Samolus parviflorus 'Red'. However, the real Samolus parviflorus is a green aquarium plant with a very similar leaf shape, while Lysimachia parvifolia 'Red' is distinguished by its red hues.
The plant grows upright and compact when trimmed regularly, and it responds well to replanting from cut shoots. Stable water environment and balanced nutrition provide the best color development.
Outside of the aquarium hobby, Lysimachia parvifolia has been used in traditional Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory herb.
