About the species
Anubia's barteri was. nana is a small and attractive plant that thrives in all conditions. It originates from Cameroon and grows 5-10 cm high. The rhizome will be 10-15 cm or more. It grows slowly and the leaves survive for years, giving slow-growing algae the chance to establish themselves.
Best results are achieved by planting on a rock or tree trunk. Fishing line can be used to secure the plant until it takes hold. If planted on the bottom, the rhizome must not be covered as it tends to rot. It often blooms under water and thrives in shady places where other plants do not.
It is not eaten by herbivorous fish. Herbivorous fish are fish that mainly eat plant material, such as algae, plant leaves and roots. They usually do not eat meat or other animal products. Examples of herbivorous fish are many cichlids, moths, surgeons and many other fish species.
