Product overview
Seachem Brackish Salt - 600g is a chemically sound blend of salts designed to mimic the native environment of livebearers and other brackish water fish without adversely affecting aquatic plants. Unless you accidentally overdose, which should be avoided. It does not affect pH or provide buffering.
Brackish Salt is more than just a simple sodium chloride product and does not cause any type of damage to aquatic plants but actually provides many nutrients essential for healthy plant growth. Dosage of Brackish Salt enables specific duplication of different brackish water environments found all over the world (such as the waters of Sumatra or the waters of Borneo).
Brackish Salt can also be dosed for general brackish water aquariums and general freshwater aquariums. Brackish Salt is a safe and effective alternative to the sodium chloride-based aquarium salts that are so common
Dosage: Use when starting up a new aquarium or when doing water changes. It is best to dissolve the salt in fresh water before use.
For live bearing (such as guppies, swordfish, platys, some molly fish), use 20g (~1 tablespoon) for every 40 liters of aquarium water.
For estuarine fish from Yucatan or Sri Lanka (Archers, Chromides, some molly fish), use 15 g (~2 teaspoons) for every 12 liters of aquarium water.
For estuarine fish from Thailand, Cambodia, Borneo or Sumatra (Datnioides), use 40g (~2 tablespoons) per 12 liters of aquarium water.
For scats, use up to 80g (~4 tablespoons) per 12 liters of aquarium water. This dose is not for aquariums with plants.
For general use of the aquarium salt (either for mineral replacement or disease control), use 20g (~1 tablespoon) for every 40 liters of aquarium water.
For mixed populations, use an average dose, representative of species present. For specific information about your fish, contact your dealer or other reference source.
