Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam'

Product description

About the species

In the wild, Bucephalandra usually grows on rocks or wood in rivers and streams - very similar to Anubias, which they resemble in terms of use and care in the aquarium. Bucephalandra 'Wavy Green' is an easy-to-grow, slow-growing plant that prefers lower light levels.

A nice, dense appearance is guaranteed by its willingness to branch out, even without pruning. The green leaves are 2 cm wide and 5 cm long with wavy edges. Small white spots will appear on submerged leaves. The creeping stem, the rhizome, must not be covered when planting.

This will cause the plant to rot and die. Bucephalandra is a perfect shrimp aquarium plant, you will love watching your shrimp crawl on the slow growing plant.

FAQ about Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam'

How do I plant Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam'?

Attach it to wood or rock, or place the roots lightly in substrate without covering the rhizome. A buried rhizome may receive poor circulation and rot.

Where should Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' be placed?

Place it on hardscape in the foreground, middle or background according to the variety’s mature size. Avoid very harsh flow against delicate leaves.

Does Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' need CO₂?

It can usually grow without added CO₂, although stable CO₂ and balanced nutrition may improve growth. Moderate lighting often reduces algae on slow-growing leaves.

How do I propagate Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam'?

Once the rhizome has grown, divide it with a clean tool. Each section should retain roots and several healthy leaves before being attached elsewhere.
